The word that is reverberating around my head this week is possibility. I serve an incredible God, a God who has done, does, and will continue to do amazing miracles. And as the challenges in this world increase and the darkness increases, so does the light.
So often, I find it easy to meditate on the wrong thing, for example, disappointments and struggles. However, God has been intervening in my life lately through the written Word to encourage me.
This morning I read the encouraging scripture of Matthew 6:26 Consider the birds. Do you think they worry about their existence? They don’t plant or reap or store up food, yet your heavenly Father provides for them…. But what was very special it was the last thing that I read at night. I’d read the same scripture in another book. I wonder if perhaps God is trying to tell me something. Wow, I felt such lightness in my heart. I will choose to turn my mind to God’s possibility.
I have wanted more of God for years, to encounter Him more. Despite the time I have spent seeking Him, I have often felt dry. But now I feel that my relationship with Him is increasing. I hear from Him more and I say more Lord in 2024.
In Romans 12:1-2 we are encouraged to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, and not to be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. When I first became a Christian, there was so much more for God to deal with; obvious ugly sins that left me battling despair. He has brought me through so much. But now, for me, my mind has often been in places not glorifying God. The struggles may not be so obvious on the outside, but still do not lead to a happy liberated life. I am talking about worry and stress. I believe I have wired my brain that way unintentionally. And I have to work to change the way I think diligently. It is so important to renew our minds to God’s word and to relax and trust Him to walk in faith.
I remember someone saying that we need to create an atmosphere around us through our thinking, so heaven will be welcomed to us a bit like a dove landing on our shoulder. So let's create an atmosphere in our thinking that glorifies God.
I thank God for the miracles in my life in 2023 and thank Him in advance for my answers to prayer for the adventures that lie ahead on our journey together in 2024. What would it be like if we could thank and praise God for the answers to our prayers now before we see the answers?And rest our minds on the promises in God’s word. I believe our lives can be so much more joyful than they are.
